is a Pen Tester and Cyber Security professional with a decade of work experience in other industries.
Sarah majored in Business with a concentration in International Marketing at SUNY at Buffalo. Post graduating, She went to FIT where she studied Fashion and Jewelry Design. She designed both men’s and women’s fashion, and very varied products for both. She also began a small jewelry line on sarahmelvi.etsy.com.
After spending nearly a decade in the fashion design world, Sarah decided to shift her career focus to UI Design to become well acquainted with the tech industry, before studying Cyber Security. She has always had an interest in the tech world, and even taught herself some basic HTML/CSS coding back in the days of Myspace, and a bit since. Sarah is dedicated to collecting as many industry recognized certifications as possible! She has a specific interest and is gaining experience in Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing.
After working in design for a decade, she decided to study Cyber Security, and began the NYU x HackerU (now ThriveDX) Cyber Security program. Sarah has always been interested in data privacy, ethical hacking, social engineering, and penetration testing. This program allowed her to explore these areas of Cyber Security conceptually, while also practicing the concepts on tools used by Cyber Security professionals. She finished this program in June 2022, and is now working as a Penetration Tester at a Cyber Security services firm.
Sarah has always been fascinated by how others think and use (or don't use) security. She has also always been interested in the newest, freshest thing, so has a drive to always keep up to date with new attacks and defenses.
For Sarah, as long as she’s learning, she is fulfilled. Outside of Cyber Security, she plays several sports: dodgeball, kickball and volleyball. She also has a passion and love for animals, so tries to volunteer as much as she can, and travel is very important to her.
